I am interested in the computational principles of memory, learning, decision making, and problem solving & creation with the dual goals of advancing general-purpose artificial intelligence and developing tools to better understand our own intelligence. I received my Ph.D. in Computer Science from Aachen University in Germany, and I was a postdoctoral researcher and lecturer teaching deep learning at the University of Lugano in Switzerland, before joining Harvard. The scope of my research interests has expanded from language modeling during my Ph.D. to general sequence and program learning during my postdoc, and now to cognitive neuroscience and psychology in my current post-postdoctoral research.
